Time To Have A Last Look At Home
We had 3 different meetings today to say goodbye to family and friends in San Diego. Now, just 14 days from leaving the days are going fast...and it is hard to believe that we are this close to heading to Central Eurasia.
For our family of four we are really a bit disconnected: Here we are in one "emotional moment" after another. Saying goodbye to family and friends, and this weekend, to the place we have most often have called home...San Diego. While at the same time trying to pull all the stings to keep focused on this big shift in culture and geography that is days away. It is a bit like living in two different Worlds at the same time.
We are hoping for a few days of quiet to look forward to what is coming. It was hard to see our hometown today in all its glory. We are staying on Harbor Island and the weather, views and location are typical SoCal.
Ann and I are hoping that Istanbul will capture the kid's hearts and that within a short time they will fall in love with the country and culture they will be living in for the next few years. All in all...it is really just geography, half a World away.
